I think we were lucky to find George's car rental company through Google, because in all our vacations, the process of payment, car insurance, pickup, and return has never been as fast, convenient, enjoyable, and, in short, free of delays and hidden pitfalls as with traditional rental companies. We messaged George several times, paid the rental fee, and everything was ready. I sent him our flight number, and we simply agreed on the perfect time for car delivery via WhatsApp. Choosing a car, a Jeep Renegade, was crucial because if it snows or you want to explore the surrounding area, forget about it with a regular car. It requires all-wheel drive, and there are even several modes to choose from (snow, sand, and mud), and you can lock all the wheels if needed. Simply parking at the hotel is sometimes impossible without all-wheel drive. So, my family and I were able to park right next to the hotel, where there was something like an ice skating rink. The Jeep was large enough to accommodate us and all our snowboarding gear. And the last thing I'd like to point out is the 100% car insurance with no excess, which is included in the price of the car with no extra charges. So, no matter what happens, you just call Georg, and he'll take care of everything. It was an excellent service, and we were lucky to use it. We'll definitely use Georg again next time. When we picked up the car, the appointment was that we would bring it back to the airport on september 21st, at 18:00. Instead we asked if it would be possible to bring the car back at September 20th, in the morning. This would take two days off our reservation. The company that we rented the car from, said this was normally not possible, but he would make an exception. He promised us a one day refund. This would also include the payment for airport pickup, because we dropped it off somewhere else. We agreed. In the end he even found new renters, which means that he received double money for the same car, for two days. We saw them pick up the car and have video of this. The charge for one day, plus insurance, extra driver and airport pickup is 160.50 Lari. Instead when we brought the car back, an employee of the rental company wanted to give us 60 lari. This is not what we agreed to. In the end the employee didn't give us any money back, even though the company owner promised a refund. And also, the car was rented to new people, so we couldn't even get the car back during our rental time.

What you should know before driving
🅿️ Download the parking app before you drive in Tbilisi. You'll get fined or towed if you don't pay through the app. One renter couldn't figure it out — his owner drove over and sorted the tickets himself.
📸 Watch out for speed cameras. They're everywhere on main highways, and fines are issued automatically. Andrej 🇨🇿 picked up two fines in 16 days — one for an illegal turn (20 GEL) and one for speeding (50 GEL). You may not even know until you return the car.
🛞 Check your tires before you leave. This is the most common issue in winter. Mismatched tires, worn tread, bald rubber on mountain roads — it all comes up. If you're heading to Mestia or Gudauri, inspect the tires at pickup and ask the owner to swap them if needed.
📍 Download offline maps. Google Maps and Maps.me don't always work well in Georgia — wrong pins, missing roads. Save your route offline and confirm the pickup point with your owner on WhatsApp before you land.
