The car is good, but the company itself issued a bunch of additional bills so that I could get the car. They did not count the prepayment amount that I paid through the website and told me to pay the full rental price. I'm unhappy with the service.

The car was a year older than the one we had booked on the website, plus it had scratches and chips all around, the rear bumper was cracked. The representative of the company replied that everything was fine with the mechanics - it turned out to be true. Regarding three or four cars of the same brand that were standing next to each other and looked like new - the representative said that they had mechanical problems, but it seemed to me that this was not true - if they had mechanical problems - why were they in the parking lot and not in the garage? All child seats were terribly dirty, they could have been rinsed with Karcher once every six months for decency. On renting at the airport - it turned out that they meet us and then take us to the airport, and the point of delivery is 10-15 minutes from the airport. The car did not break down, they met us and took us - so in general I think it is acceptable with a stretch.

Everything went well: the representative met me at Istanbul Airport in the parking lot, he was on the phone, so it was quick to find him. Then he took us to the office, where I signed the contract, paid the balance and received the car. The car itself was certainly not in the best shape (all defects were documented) and in minimal equipment (aux output and Bluetooth were missing, I could not put my music). On the road, the car did not let me down, even a little pleased with the low fuel consumption (1000 km on one tank passed). I rented in another city, in Antalya, I wrote the address of the office near the airport, took the car without problems and EVEN did not take money from me for travel on toll roads (and I drove half of Turkey on them). Drove me to the terminal. Rating = a solid 4+ (I took without a deposit, but with extra payment for delivery = $200+-).

What you should know before driving in Turkey
Turkey drives on the right. Roads are excellent, signs are duplicated in English, and international road markings apply — though the stop sign reads "DUR". Local drivers can be assertive, so stay calm and attentive. Speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on rural roads, 120 km/h on motorways. Blood alcohol limit is 0.50 promille. Foreign drivers can use their home licence for up to 6 months (IDP required for non-Latin alphabet countries).

Toll roads
Turkey's motorways (otoyol) and all Bosphorus crossings are tolled electronically via HGS stickers — no cash accepted at the gates. Most TakeCars rental cars have HGS fitted; just tell your owner to activate it before your trip. Tolls are deducted from your deposit on return. Free alternative roads exist parallel to most motorways if you prefer to skip tolls.

Fuel and parking
Fuel costs around 55–63 TRY per litre (~$1.40 USD) for both gasoline and diesel. Stations (Petrol Ofisi, Shell, BP, Opet) are plentiful — most have attendants, and you can say "dolu depo" for a full tank. In Istanbul, use paid garages (10–20 TRY/hour) or free lots near shopping centres; on-street parking is managed by attendants in yellow vests. Coastal resorts have easier parking but it fills up in summer.

Insurance on TakeCars
Every car includes basic third-party liability (TPL) at no extra cost. You can upgrade to CDW, Super CDW, or Full Damage Waiver (FDW) for near-zero excess — cars with FDW are tagged "zero deposit." Staying connected
Three providers: Turkcell (best coverage for road trips), Vodafone, and Turk Telekom. Tourist SIMs cost 1,000–1,700 TRY (~€26–45) for 28 days — buy from official shops, not street sellers. Free Wi-Fi is available at airports, cafés, and shopping centres. Download offline maps before heading into mountain areas.

Minimum age for rental is 21 years. Some providers may charge extra for the young driver option.
Rental prices are calculated on a 24-hour basis; the longer you rent, the cheaper it gets. Transparent pricing is always a priority.

You can pay for the rental in cash or by card upon receiving the car and signing the contract. At the time of booking, a prepayment of 10-20% is required, which is included in the rental price.
