I booked the car a month before arrival. On the day of the rental I was contacted and arranged an appointment to hand over the car. The car fully corresponded to the description and photos from the website. I was handed over the car with a pts, the contract was formalized on the spot. The car was on mechanics, it was comfortable to drive. We drove around the city, in the suburbs and nearby cities, without problems. There were no questions about the technical condition of the rented car. On the last day of the lease I was also contacted and we agreed on the time of the transfer of the car. After inspection of the car I was returned the deposit. In general, I was satisfied with the service!

Overall an ok experience, however not without local flavor. Given the low prices one can forgive. The car, of course, was different, but OK. They asked me to take it early, I agreed on the condition that they would help me park it (it was in the center of Istanbul). A Turkish-speaking man came, gestured that I had parking problems and left, I had to solve it myself. It was good that there were no problems with the change at the airport.

Let's start with the fact that I didn't get an Opel Vivaro, there was another minivan, without panorama, without electric door drives. I did not bother to find out where exactly the ordered car was, but accepted what was brought. We were able to accommodate the whole family. From a technical point of view, everything was fine with the car, we received it quite quickly, clean. Handed over a little difficult, in terms of the place where it was planned to transfer, you can not stop. And my friend asked to go to the hotel, which is not possible, because the car on the road is not left, I had to get to the nearest parking lot and there to explain where to go to the receiving person to pick up the car, and I had to pay for the parking lot. The handover was a little bit spoiled the impression, but in general we are satisfied with the car, it is technically sound, the receipt is simple and quick. I wanted the one I ordered with a panorama - it would be great with kids on a long trip.

What you should know before driving in Turkey
Turkey drives on the right. Roads are excellent, signs are duplicated in English, and international road markings apply — though the stop sign reads "DUR". Local drivers can be assertive, so stay calm and attentive. Speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on rural roads, 120 km/h on motorways. Blood alcohol limit is 0.50 promille. Foreign drivers can use their home licence for up to 6 months (IDP required for non-Latin alphabet countries).

Toll roads
Turkey's motorways (otoyol) and all Bosphorus crossings are tolled electronically via HGS stickers — no cash accepted at the gates. Most TakeCars rental cars have HGS fitted; just tell your owner to activate it before your trip. Tolls are deducted from your deposit on return. Free alternative roads exist parallel to most motorways if you prefer to skip tolls.

Fuel and parking
Fuel costs around 55–63 TRY per litre (~$1.40 USD) for both gasoline and diesel. Stations (Petrol Ofisi, Shell, BP, Opet) are plentiful — most have attendants, and you can say "dolu depo" for a full tank. In Istanbul, use paid garages (10–20 TRY/hour) or free lots near shopping centres; on-street parking is managed by attendants in yellow vests. Coastal resorts have easier parking but it fills up in summer.

Insurance on TakeCars
Every car includes basic third-party liability (TPL) at no extra cost. You can upgrade to CDW, Super CDW, or Full Damage Waiver (FDW) for near-zero excess — cars with FDW are tagged "zero deposit." Three providers: Turkcell (best coverage for road trips), Vodafone, and Turk Telekom. Tourist SIMs cost 1,000–1,700 TRY (~€26–45) for 28 days — buy from official shops, not street sellers.
