I rented at Istanbul airport for 8 days with return at the airport. I liked everything, the car is almost new (2000 km of mileage), there were no problems when renting and returning (there was full insurance without deductible). I found out the name of the rental company from the correspondence with the manager of aggregator. The office of the rental company is located on one of the floors of a huge 6-storey parking lot with other companies. The company works 24/7, so the return at 7 am did not cause any problems. Overall an ok experience, however not without local flavor. Given the low prices one can forgive. The car, of course, was different, but OK. They asked me to take it early, I agreed on the condition that they would help me park it (it was in the center of Istanbul). A Turkish-speaking man came, gestured that I had parking problems and left, I had to solve it myself. It was good that there were no problems with the change at the airport.

I ended up renting a Hyundai I20. In general, there were no significant differences from the car I had originally rented. Everything went very well, we were met at the airport and taken to the company's office, very quickly formalized. The car is new, there are no claims, at the inspection immediately fixed a little damage. We had a great trip on it the whole vacation. The manager was in touch, the only disadvantage was that he did not immediately send confirmation of booking and payment. When handing the car back - everything went quickly and without complaints. We visit Turkey every year, staying in Kemer. Almost always we rent a car, either for the whole vacation, or for a few days to visit the sights. And now once again there was a dilemma how to book a car - immediately at the airport, or in the Chamber, where the price is usually at least 50%, or even 2 times more expensive. This time we planned a trip by car to Izmir region, for 4 days and in case of renting at the airport the rental period would be 7 days, as we wanted to go to Izmir in a few days upon arrival. On the usual sites, where I booked earlier still faced with the fact that almost all cars were with a mileage limit - from 150 to 250km per day, and the amount of deposit was quite large. And it did not suit us. And now, in one of the reviews I saw a new site takecars. And it turned out that the amount of car delivery to Kemer is reasonable, the deposit is 100$, the choice of cars is very attractive. In the end I stopped on the car Fiat Egea Multijet automatic. On the day of rent we wrote down on WhatsApp with the lessor of the car, the car was brought an hour early, eventually upgraded the class - got a Toyota Corolla hybrid automatic. The process took literally 3 minutes. Great car, perhaps the best of those that we had rented before. In 4 days we also came to pick up the car, within 2 minutes it was given to us. In general, we were very satisfied with the car and the ease of registration and cost - on all parameters can safely put 5 points out of 5

Everything was fine. There was a small delay in the airport when we were trying to find a persn who are going to meet us and bring back to office. But except this all other procedures were quite fast. A men in office was very gentle and do a lot of efforts to find a baby seat for us which fits for my child. Finaly I got brand new nice seat. The car qulity was fine, I do not have any complaints. Drop off procedure was also very fast and gentle.

What you should know before driving in Turkey
Turkey drives on the right. Roads are excellent, signs are duplicated in English, and international road markings apply — though the stop sign reads "DUR". Local drivers can be assertive, so stay calm and attentive. Speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on rural roads, 120 km/h on motorways. Blood alcohol limit is 0.50 promille. Foreign drivers can use their home licence for up to 6 months (IDP required for non-Latin alphabet countries).

Toll roads
Turkey's motorways (otoyol) and all Bosphorus crossings are tolled electronically via HGS stickers — no cash accepted at the gates. Most TakeCars rental cars have HGS fitted; just tell your owner to activate it before your trip. Tolls are deducted from your deposit on return. Free alternative roads exist parallel to most motorways if you prefer to skip tolls.

Fuel and parking
Fuel costs around 55–63 TRY per litre (~$1.40 USD) for both gasoline and diesel. Stations (Petrol Ofisi, Shell, BP, Opet) are plentiful — most have attendants, and you can say "dolu depo" for a full tank. In Istanbul, use paid garages (10–20 TRY/hour) or free lots near shopping centres; on-street parking is managed by attendants in yellow vests. Coastal resorts have easier parking but it fills up in summer.

Insurance on TakeCars

Three providers: Turkcell (best coverage for road trips), Vodafone, and Turk Telekom. Tourist SIMs cost 1,000–1,700 TRY (~€26–45) for 28 days — buy from official shops, not street sellers.
