The car was not ready for use. 1. The right headlight wasn’t working. 2. The dashboard displayed ABS and check engine warning lights. 3. There was no jack. 4. The gas tank was empty when I started the car. 5. The interior was dirty. The car was handed over by Jokko, who is likely an employee of Philip, the car’s owner. Philip responded rudely on WhatsApp, saying, “You’re wasting my time! If you don’t like it, don’t take the car!” We should have turned it down right then and there! The icing on the cake—Jokko said we had to pay for the parking ourselves, even though he’d been waiting for us there for two hours. After some back-and-forth on WhatsApp, Philip finally said he’d come by to replace the headlight bulb. He didn’t give a specific time, even though we asked three times. When I pointed out that he hadn’t even asked where to go, he said he could see our location via GPS. In the end, on the day he was supposed to come, he sent a message saying, “Send me the address.” He showed up suddenly without warning and said that if we didn’t open the car right away, he’d drive off. We ran out in five minutes. After changing the bulb, he quickly walked back to his car without even checking to see if the headlight was working. He cleared all the error codes on the dashboard. He didn’t bring a jack. The next day, the “Check Engine” light came on again. We asked Philip if it was dangerous—he said, “My friend, just keep driving.” As we drove, the brake problem got worse while we were on the mountain roads of Durmitor—the pedal became stiff and hard to control, plus new warnings lit up on the dashboard, and accompanied by a monotonous beeping sound, we made it to a gas station—we inspected the car and noticed that all the brake fluid had leaked out and was dripping near the left rear wheel (probably a problem with the caliper). We kept topping off the brake fluid (3 liters) throughout the entire 200-km drive home. The car had this problem from the start—of course, no one was going to reimburse us for the cost of the brake fluid. After a back-and-forth in our correspondence and insults from Philip directed at me—saying “you don’t know how to drive” to someone with 45 years of driving experience—he wrote that he would bring a replacement car the next day. Jocco delivered the car at 9 p.m. We were without a car for a full day. Of course, no one compensated us for that either. The new car was a lower class than the one we’d paid to rent—a 2013 Citroën C3 with a manual transmission. This car also displayed an engine error on the dashboard right from the start—according to Jokko, this was due to poor-quality fuel in Montenegro. Overall impression: poor, both regarding the car and this particular rental company. They were incredibly rude, careless, and brazen. Both cars we used were in terrible condition. Plus, we lost two days of our vacation—one day waiting for them to replace a headlight bulb, and another day waiting for them to replace the car after a brake issue.

I highly recommend this owner. We met at the airport; he even had to wait for me a little while because there was no internet, but I quickly bought a SIM card and was able to stay in touch (there’s Wi-Fi at the Podgorica airport, but the signal is weak). Nothing went wrong with the car over the course of 4 days; it’s comfortable and quite fuel-efficient, everything worked, and the engine handled the mountain switchbacks very well!! I sincerely recommend it—the owner is very pleasant and kind.)

Everything was perfect, we had contact before coming to Montenegro, when we arrived to the airport guy with car was already waiting in the parking lot, paperwork was very quick, we had some fuel for beginning. Car was in perfect condition, served very good during our whole trip. No problem with returning it back at the same airport as taken. Price was also very contenting. So yeah I think that would be solid 10/10 😊
