We were very dissatisfied not so much with the car, but with Mr. Huseyin, who is a representative of the company that provides the car on the spot (Izmir airport). We flew from Antalya and indicated this when booking, including the flight number. Of course, we arrived at the domestic terminal. Huseyin came to meet us in the international terminal. As a result - unnecessary negotiations and lost time. He took us not to the parking lot of the rental company, but to some apartment building. Also he did not have a terminal for payment with a bank card, although in the terms of rental on the site was such a possibility. Then he took from us extra 10 euros for the passage of the car on toll highways, explaining that the car has a built-in transponder for automatic payment and that the amount will be deducted from it and it is just it. There was no information about this payment on the website when booking. The car was all mangled. We took 26 pictures of the damage to document the current condition of the car. But it seemed to drive, and time was a pity, so we decided to take the proposed copy. But after the same day we noticed how wiped the steering wheel and gear lever were. According to the contract the car should have been manufactured in 2022, but we took it in January 2024. A car can't look like this after 2 years of use. We started to look at its technical ticket, and it says that this car is not 2022, but 2018. So it's a different car than we ordered, even though it was the same model. The mileage was listed around 97000 kilometers, but such a wiped steering wheel and gearbox lever said that the car has passed much over 150000km. When we wrote to Hussain about it, he just said that the 2022 car was being repaired and he couldn't give any discounts for an older and beat up car, nor could he change it. In normal rental companies there is a rule, according to which, if the ordered car is not available for any circumstances, then the customers are given a similar or better, but never worse, as we got. And Husein did not say it himself in advance, but tried to hide it. Also with time we realized that the wiper blades and left window washer did not work in the car. Fortunately at least this after a conversation with Hussein managed to eliminate, but for this we had to drive ourselves to a certain car service and again spend our vacation time. In general, we do not recommend dealing with this car supplier (Hussein) and his company.

Emir met us at the airport and took us to the office to sign the contract - it is 8-10 minutes from the airport. The whole procedure took another 10 minutes and we picked up the car. I took a Renault Clio - clean, fresh. It was just right for Istanbul! I rented the car at the same place where I signed the contract. It took no more than 10 minutes. Emir also took us from there to the airport. I am completely satisfied with the service, I recommend it!

We rented a Dacia Lodgy 7 Seater in July 2023. 3 adults and 4 children fit in the cabin, even 2 suitcases and hand luggage fit in the trunk. The car was delivered to us directly to the airport, but with a slight delay. Dacia was not afraid of the steep streets of Kalkan, the cabin was perfectly cooled by air conditioning. Roads in Turkey and interchanges are not complicated, so we recommend renting a car. You get complete freedom of movement. The next time we visit Turkey we will turn to the same company. We liked everything!

My flight arrived 2 hours late, but a day before departure I sent the flight data to the rental office so they could see how things were with it. When I arrived I was met, but I was indignant that the flight was delayed and said that the reservation was lost. In the end he made it clear that because of the delay the car is no longer available, which is complete nonsense in my opinion .... In the end he gave the same Fiat, but with a manual, not an automatic and resented that the rental price is very cheap. Then asked for a credit card, I explained to him that the credit card is only RF bank and that you had written that no deposit. He said that yes there is no deposit, but you need a credit card. I offered to leave conditional 300 dollars in cash and that I will take them when I give the car at the end, he was not satisfied, in the end I had to issue hull insurance for 170-180 dollars.... Which is also some nonsense, because he just wrote with a pen that hull insurance paid on his sheet. They clearly have a hull insurance for a year.... The time was late, I had no desire to argue and no time either, I had to go further. So I paid an additional 170 dollars for the "hull insurance", got a mechanic car instead of an automatic for the same money and drove off.

What you should know before driving in Turkey
Turkey drives on the right. Roads are excellent, signs are duplicated in English, and international road markings apply — though the stop sign reads "DUR". Local drivers can be assertive, so stay calm and attentive. Speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on rural roads, 120 km/h on motorways. Blood alcohol limit is 0.50 promille. Foreign drivers can use their home licence for up to 6 months (IDP required for non-Latin alphabet countries).

Toll roads
Turkey's motorways (otoyol) and all Bosphorus crossings are tolled electronically via HGS stickers — no cash accepted at the gates. Most TakeCars rental cars have HGS fitted; just tell your owner to activate it before your trip. Tolls are deducted from your deposit on return. Free alternative roads exist parallel to most motorways if you prefer to skip tolls.

Fuel and parking
Fuel costs around 55–63 TRY per litre (~$1.40 USD) for both gasoline and diesel. Stations (Petrol Ofisi, Shell, BP, Opet) are plentiful — most have attendants, and you can say "dolu depo" for a full tank. In Istanbul, use paid garages (10–20 TRY/hour) or free lots near shopping centres; on-street parking is managed by attendants in yellow vests. Coastal resorts have easier parking but it fills up in summer.

Insurance on TakeCars
Every car includes basic third-party liability (TPL) at no extra cost. You can upgrade to CDW, Super CDW, or Full Damage Waiver (FDW) for near-zero excess — cars with FDW are tagged "zero deposit." Staying connected
Three providers: Turkcell (best coverage for road trips), Vodafone, and Turk Telekom. Tourist SIMs cost 1,000–1,700 TRY (~€26–45) for 28 days — buy from official shops, not street sellers. Free Wi-Fi is available at airports, cafés, and shopping centres. Download offline maps before heading into mountain areas.
